Masjid Al-Kahf at Bintaro Design District (BDD)
A Responsible Mosque Cultivating A Greener Future Through Rainwater Harvesting
Bintaro is a district in South Tangerang, Indonesia. If there has been a recent initiative to create a design district in Bintaro, it could involve the establishment of an area dedicated to design-related businesses, creative industries, and cultural activities. The "Envisioning Nature" topic for this design district event encourages people to engage in a transformative act by connecting with the inherent balance, complexity, and beauty of the natural world. Imagining nature involves more than simply using your eyes to view it; it also involves adopting a holistic perspective that encourages a profound respect for the fragile balance that keeps life on Earth viable. It promotes a shared dedication to preserving and safeguarding the Earth for upcoming generations. Aaksen Responsible Aarchitecture displayed Masjid Al-Kahf, a Responsible Mosque cultivating a greener future through rainwater harvesting, during this event. This kind of project is in line with ecological awareness and sustainable methods. In order to address the challenge of obtaining clean water in isolated locations of Indonesia, this mosque uses rainwater as a supply of clean water. After filtering and using it for ablution, the clean water is used to water the nearby plants. Rainwater can run down the tropical roof of the Masjid Al-Kahf and collect in this way.Following that, we also recycle empty bottles to create beautiful and useful objects like seats, pulpits, silkahs, shoe racks, Al-Quran reading boards, and more. By doing this, we help reduce waste and foster a greater sense of environmental responsibility. This method of production is more resource- and environmentally-friendly since it adheres to the circular economy philosophy of reusing materials rather than discarding them. Apart from its eco-friendly attributes, the furniture collection also contributes to increasing consciousness regarding the possibility of innovative and useful approaches to address worldwide environmental problems. Users of these products support and prioritize sustainability and usefulness while simultaneously contributing to a beneficial environmental impact through the usage of distinctive, well-crafted furniture.
